Dr. Gary Roth, OD
Our founding optometrist, Dr. Gary Roth, OD, is on the faculty of the Hadassah College of Optometry in Jerusalem, since 1997 as a clinical mentor and lecturer. As an optometrist, he is known for gentle, careful, and thorough care.
Dr. Gary Roth studied at the New England College of Optometry, he received both B.Sc and O.D. (Doctor of Optometry) degrees. In 1987 part of Dr. Roth’s fourth-year of optometry training included a clinical rotation at Hadassah Hospital (Ein Karem) and its Strauss Clinic.
After passing both the National Boards and State Boards, Dr. Roth practiced in Massachusetts with Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agent privileges, and then later in Ohio with Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent certification. In 1995 the Roth family made aliyah, which enabled the young optometrist to teach at the Israel College of Optometry in Tel Aviv. Two years later he began to research and instruct at the Hadassah Academic College in Jerusalem.
Dr. Roth is a long-time member of the American Optometric Association and a past member of the Ohio Optometric Association, as well as the Israel Council of Optometrists, and numerous other professional organizations. He also served as an examiner for the Israel Ministry of Health’s Board of Optometry. Dr. Roth attends at least 25 hours of continuing education courses annually in order to renew an active Ohio license. He is a native of Cleveland Ohio.
After 22 years in optometric education in Israel (4 in Tel Aviv, 20 in Jerusalem – 2 years of overlap), as well as time spent as an examiner for the Health Ministry’s Board of Optometry, Dr. Roth will be taking a break from the academic world. He has served as a lecturer of ocular pharmacology, lab instructor, researcher, clinical supervisor, and administrator, as well as a volunteer for vision screenings. Dr. Roth has presented talks to various groups, as well as posters at professional continuing education meetings, and published various tips for optometrists.
Rachel Roth, Optician, ABOC
Rachel Roth, is certified by the National American Board of Opticianry.
Mrs. Rachel Roth grew up in Framingham, MA, and studied opticianry at the Southern Ohio College in Cincinnati, after first attending Northeastern University in Boston. She practiced opticianry in southwestern Ohio, and passed the national American Board of Opticianry test, prior to making aliyah. A member of the Opticians Association of America and the National Academy of Opticianry, Mrs. Roth takes continuing education in order to maintain her certification.
